“You’re showing too much grace.”

“You’re not showing enough grace.”

“You’re doing too much.”

“You’re not doing enough.”

“You’re too political.”

“You don’t talk about politics enough.”

“You’re not focused enough on this.”

“You’re too focused on that.”

On and on it goes, doesn’t it? Hearing the opinions, criticisms, and endless commentary from others can leave you feeling pulled in every direction.

The truth is, the voices of others—whether they come from strangers, loved ones, or even your own thoughts—can pull you in a hundred different directions. Trying to please everyone isn’t just exhausting; it’s impossible.

But here’s the good news: only one voice truly matters.

It’s the voice of the One who knows you better than anyone else—the One who created you, redeemed you, and calls you by name. His voice isn’t critical or confusing. It doesn’t make you question if you’re too much or not enough. Instead, His voice leads with love, clarity, and purpose.

Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

In a world full of noise, the challenge isn’t to silence every opinion—it’s to tune your heart to the Shepherd’s voice. Stop striving for the approval of the crowd and start walking in the confidence that comes from being known and loved by the One who matters most.

When we listen to Jesus, we find grace, purpose, and peace—not because of what we do, but because of who He is.

So today, take a moment to quiet the noise around you. Open God’s Word. Spend time in prayer. Ask Him to remind you of who you are in Him. And above all, let His voice guide your steps, because when you follow the Shepherd, you’ll never lose your way.

Who are you listening to?
